Psalm 103:12 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Philippians 3:13-16 New King James Version (NKJV)
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
Reflection:
On your mark…get set…Go! [Poof…goes the gun] That phrase is a build up to an explosion of human adrenaline like you have never experienced. I used to run track in college. One race stands out in my memory. I was in the 55-meter dash at an indoor meet. I had been training hard in the off season and I was ready to show that out on the track. The race announcer said “Runners, on your mark, get set….” Then I jumped in anticipation of the gun. Well they charged me with a false start and I was disqualified from the race. Just like that, I abruptly started over the preparation cycle for the next race.
Sometimes over the years you may feel this way. We have been plodding along preparing for the next “big” moment like a vacation, a birthday or some other special event and then in an instant it is behind you…the buildup to the excitement is gone. In those instances, how do you reset your mind set? The Word tells us that we should be always pushing ahead not to the point that we don’t enjoy the precious moments in life, but also so emotions or disappointments don’t’ derail us to our assignments set before us in the Lord.
I love comparing past experiences to my walk with the Lord. We are all on the same track team. Once it comes to our lives we all have our individual event. It is up to us to be disciplined and encourage each other in the faith. So, when that moment comes to witness, pray or lay hands on someone we will be ready.
