What melody is your heart playing?

Scriptural Foundation:

Colossians 3:16 Easy-to-Ready Version (ERV)

Let the teaching of Christ live inside you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Reflection:

Your life is a song and it is a melody that radiates outward (it interacts with other people) effect your environment/surroundings. This is not something that the sense realm can pick up (seeing, hearing, feeling, etc.), but is something that is in the spirit realm.  The devil has a rhythm that tries to disrupt your melody as it tries force its way inward to your mind.  These competing forces, your melody and the devil’s disruptive rhyme, if left unmanaged creates confusion in your mind.  By focusing on your melody (things that get you excited, fills you with joy, and give you purpose) you can eventually drown out this disruptive rhythm and create the change that you need to get past current negative habits and thought processes.

Dictionary.com defines melody, song, and rhyme as follows:

Song – a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung.

Melody – a sequence of single notes that is musically satisfying.

Rhyme – a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound.

So if your life is a song that God created and you have a unique melody that the devil is trying desperately to eliminate, shouldn’t you protect that melody with all that you have?

Seeking Revelation:

Grab your notebook:

  • What hobbies or volunteer work or dreams have you set aside for the purposes of being more practical?
  • What is stopping you from returning back to it?
  • Ask the Holy Spirit which item(s) you should pick back up again.
