It is lonely at the front of the line….

Scriptural Foundation:

Matthew 26:36-45 New King James Version (NKJV)

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?  Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Reflection:

The loneliest place to be is on the brink of your destiny. If you are there today saints, my heart goes out to you.  Not that I am saddened but my heart is overwhelmed with joy that on the other side of this feeling and/or situation, God is faithful to fulfill the vision He put in your heart that you have been walking out through obedience to His Word.  Jesus answered the call to ministry after His isolation in the desert.  He fulfilled His assignment in the garden of Gethsemane. At both points in time His actions preceded His victory. If you feel abandoned by family members or friends due to the actions you have taken for the Lord, you are in good company.

1 Peter 3:13-17 New King James Version (NKJV)

And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
